Project Templates enable you to define structure to your Adobe Captivate projects
and let you provide guidance for instructional design.
In this demonstration we will show you how to create a Project Template,
add placeholder objects,
create a new project from a template,
replace placeholder content,
create a new slide,
add Placeholder Slides to a Project Template.
To get started, we'll select Project Template.
[click]
Our first task is to define the dimensions for the Project Template.

Adobe Captivate creates a blank Project Template
with the file suffix cptl.
We will start by saving the Project Template.
[click]
We'll save the file as meridian_green_living.
[click]
Before we add placeholder content, we will insert some regular images.

[click]
[click]
[click]
The graphic is now added to the slide.
Next, using the Library panel, we will import some more images
that we want to include in the Project Template.

Having selected the graphics we want to import, we will click Open.
[click]
Adobe Captivate now reports that the three images have been successfully imported.

All the images are stored in the Library panel.
We will now add the first of two image placeholders.

Next, using the Property Inspector, we'll change the dimensions of the placeholder.

To save some time, we have also positioned the second placeholder image
over on the right-hand side of the slide.
Now we'll insert a text caption placeholder.

Notice how Adobe Captivate represents text caption placeholders.
Use the Property Inspector to define the style for the text caption placeholders.
Now we'll add one more text caption placeholder.
Regular Adobe Captivate objects can also be added to a Project Template.
We'll insert a button.

Using the Property Inspector, we'll change the button text to Start.
[keys clacking] All the elements required for this template are now in place.
Creating a Project Template makes it easy for subject matter experts
to contribute instructionally sound content
without them compromising the project structure.
In the next part of this demonstration we will show you how to create a new project file
based on the Project Template we have just created.
We'll choose Project From Template
[click] and select the Project Template we wish to use.

Adobe Captivate creates a new file based on the just created Project Template.
It's ready for SMEs (subject matter experts) to start adding in their content.
To begin, we'll save the new Captivate file.

[click]
To replace the image placeholder with actual content,
we'll double click.
[double click]
The images we previously added to the Project Template
are available in this file.
[click]

The image placeholder is now replaced with a photograph.
We'll now do the same for the second image placeholder.
[double click]
[click]
Now we'll double click the first text caption placeholder
to insert the text we wish to add to this slide.
[double click]
Notice that the placeholder icon disappears when the actual content is inserted.
Adobe Captivate enables you to create new slides that are based on a Project Template.
To demonstrate this, we'll choose New Slide.

Adobe Captivate creates a new slide that includes all of the elements
that are present in the Project Template,
including interactive objects such as the button we also added.
When you want to create similar projects or modules in a project,
use Project Templates to ensure consistency and save time.
Project Templates are especially useful when multiple authors are working
on different project modules or similar projects.
In this part of the demonstration we will show you how to set the preferences
for your Project Template and disable the project skin.
To define the Project Template preferences, choose Edit
[click]
followed by Preferences. [click]

In addition to adding placeholder objects to your Project Template,
you can also insert two types of slides.
You can insert recording and question slide placeholders.

and a Project Template.
This is what the question slide placeholder looks like.

and double click to add a recording to the project file.
[double click]
Click Record to start recording.
Double click on the question slide placeholder to insert a question slide.
[double click]
