[Bryan O'Neil Hughes, Sr. Product Manager-Photoshop] One of the most challenging
and most common things when retouching an image
is attempting to remove a wire.
This got much easier in Photoshop CS5,
with the advent of the Content-Aware option
for the Spot Healing Brush.
Removing a wire with a straight line is as simple
as clicking shift, and removing the straight line.
It's very easy. It's very fast.
Where it becomes more difficult is if you have a drooping line
coming through the image.
If you have a steady hand, you'll be okay, but if you really want to train that brush,
you need a trick.
I want to show you how to do that in CS5.
What we're going to do is take our Path tool, drop a pin on one end.
Drop another on the other end of the wire.
Drop a third in the middle. Pull that down to cover the wire.
And then what we want to do is choose our Spot Healing Brush,
and make certain that it's on Content-Aware and that we have a small hard-edged brush.
Now what we'll do is go over to our Path panel, select that Path,
and you'll notice that we have the option to stroke that path with the brush.
We're going to train our brush right along the path that we've created.
I'm going to click on that, and that power line is going to magically disappear
from my image.
We did that in just a couple of minutes.
Can you imagine how long that would have taken before?
This is a perfect example of a Hidden Gem in Photoshop CS5.
