[male speaker] With all these great images in your Organizer,
you may feel the need to create a collage of related images for friends and family
or just to display somewhere for everyone to see.
Photoshop Elements 9 can help with its Photo Collage feature.
Let's take a look at how this works.
So I'm going to select this image here, and I'm going to hold down the Command key on Mac
or the Control key on Windows to select a range of noncontiguous images
within my Organizer.
I'm then going to come over here to the Create tab,
and I'm going to press the Photo Collage button.
The Photoshop Elements 9 Editor is going to open,
and you'll immediately see that we have the Photo Collage dialog box displayed.
In the left-hand pane here, I have a number of different sizes to choose from.
I'm going to leave the 8½x11 option chosen because that's the size of my printer.
Then over here in the middle we have the Themes section.
I'm going to leave Basic chosen in this example.
And then over here on the right-hand side you can see that we have a preview
of what our photo collage is going to look like.
I'm going to press OK, and Photoshop Elements 9 is going to generate my collage.
In a few moments you'll see that the photo collage has been generated
based on the images that we had previously selected in the Organizer.
In addition, you'll notice that we do have several blank placeholder frames
that currently have not been filled with images.
If you hover your cursor over one of these placeholder images,
you'll notice that we get a pointer icon.
And if I click once, I can now navigate my hard drive
and select a photo that I'd like to use.
I'm going to click on this tropical bird image and then click the Open button.
You can see that that image has now been inserted into that placeholder frame.
I'm not actually going to use this, and I want to get rid of these empty placeholders,
so I'm simply going to click once on one of these empty placeholder frames
and then I'm going to press the Delete key on my keyboard.
Then I'll press the Yes button to confirm that deletion.
I'm going to repeat that process for this placeholder,
and I'm also going to remove this image that we inserted previously as well.
In addition, I'm not limited to how Photoshop Elements has laid out my photo collage,
so I'm going to click on this tiger and drag to reposition it within my layout.
I'm going to resize this by dragging a corner handle
and holding down the Shift key on my keyboard.
That'll constrain this transformation proportionately.
I'm going to click the green check mark to confirm that transformation.
And if I double click on this image,
you'll see that I now have a slider that I can use
to change the size of this image within the frame.
So I'm going to drag this slider to change the size of the image within the frame.
I'll just drag this down a little bit.
And when you're happy with it, you can click on the green check mark
to confirm that transformation.
In addition, I'm going to click on this lion and reposition it while using the Move tool.
That looks good.
I'm going to click on the image of this tiger.
I'm just going to drag it down to reposition it within my collage.
I'll double click on it and then I'll drag to reposition it,
and then I'm going to drag this slider to reduce the size of the image within the placeholder.
Once I'm happy with it, I'll click the green check mark.
That looks pretty good.
In addition, I can also change other attributes besides just repositioning these images.
Within the Create tab I can click on the Layouts button,
and you'll notice that I have a multitude of different layouts
by which to apply to this photo collage.
To apply one of these different layouts, I can simply double click on it.
In this particular case I'm actually going to leave the layout set
to what it's currently configured at.
In addition, if I scroll down a little bit,
you can see that I also have single photo layouts
as well as 3- and 2-photo layout configurations.
So I have plenty of choices for my photo collage.
I also have an Artwork button, and this allows me to adjust other parameters
of my photo collage.
These colors allow me to change the backgrounds,
and if I double click on one of these backgrounds,
it will apply a different color to my photo collage.
I'm going to scroll down a little bit.
We have different frames that can be applied to these individual photos,
so I'm going to select one of these photos and I'll double click on this frame
to apply it to the selected image.
If you scroll down further, you'll notice we have a ton of different choices here,
but I'm going to go back to the original, which is this one,
so I'll double click on it to apply it.
If I scroll down a little bit further, we also have this graphics category,
and there are a number of default graphics that we can use for our layout.
So for example, if I were to double click on this image,
you can see that it inserts that graphic into my photo collage.
I can hold down the Shift key while dragging one of the corner handles,
I can hover over one of the corner handles to rotate it,
and then once I'm happy with it, I'll click the green check mark to confirm the transformation.
I really don't want this in my photo collage,
so I'm just going to select it and then press the Delete key on my keyboard,
then click Yes to confirm that transformation.
We also have this text category within the Create tab.
So if I click on this button, I'm going to scroll down,
and you can see that I have a number of different text styles to apply here.
You can see all the choices that I have.
I'm going to scroll back up to the top, and I'm going to choose this first one,
which is the Animal Fur Leopard.
So I'll double click on that to apply that,
and it's going to insert some default text into my layout.
Now what I'm going to do is I'm going to type some new text here.
I'm going to type Big Cats.
And then I'm going to highlight that text, and up here in my options bar
I can change the font if I choose to,
I can also change the style within that font,
and I can also change the point size of the text.
Currently it's set to 120 points,
and I'm going to highlight the space between these words
and press Return to change it to 2 lines.
I'm then going to highlight this text again,
and I can also adjust the leading of this text.
Currently it's set to Auto.
I can choose an option from the drop-down menu if I like,
or I can highlight the current value and type in a new value.
110 looks good.
Now I'm going to click the green check mark to confirm that transformation,
go back to my Move tool, and reposition this text to a different location.
In addition, I have this Warp Text button.
And if I click on this button, it brings up the Warp Text dialog box
that allows me to choose from a number of different styles.
I'm going to come down and choose Bulge in this case,
and then I can adjust the parameters of this effect,
maybe reduce the effect itself.
That looks pretty good.
I'm going to click OK, and if I want to, I could click the Print button to print this on my printer.
I don't want to do that right now, so I'm just going to click the Done button.
And then it's going to ask me to save my photo collage,
so I'm going to click the Save button and I'm going to give this file a new name.
I'm going to call this Big Cats, and I'm going to save it into my Assets folder.
But more importantly, I want to make sure that I have the Include in the Elements Organizer
check box turned on.
In addition, I want to make sure that I have the Layers check box turned on as well.
So I'll click Save, and you'll notice that the photo collage is closed.
Now I'm going to return to the Organizer by clicking on the Organizer button.
And now back in the Organizer if I scroll to the top,
you can see that in the upper left corner there is my photo collage.
I'm going to click on the triangle to the right of the Fix tab,
and I'm going to choose Full Photo Edit.
And if you look here in the lower right-hand corner,
you'll see that every element has been created as a separate layer within the Layers panel.
As you've seen in this video, there are multiple choices to choose from
when creating your collage.
With a little bit of time and effort, you'll be creating amazing collages
to proudly display for everyone to see.
