Hey there. Colin Fleming here.
I've got a new little trick for you in Viewer Builder.
This is something I picked up just in the last couple of days.
It appears to be undocumented, but it's a really cool little trick.
If you're working in Viewer Builder
and you get to the point of loading icons and splash screens,
the way I've always been doing this is clicking the little folder icon,
which gets me a loading command, and then I go and find my content
and I simply drag and drop.
That picks the first image that I want to load in here.
And then I would repeat this process, clicking each of these folder icons one at a time
to load all the icons, the splash screens, and the optional artwork
and then switch over to the HD version and do exactly the same thing.
Here is the new little trick.
Very subtle, but once you know it, it's really cool.
I've got a folder that holds all of my icons and all of my splash screens and optional artwork.
I simply select all of that content and drag and drop it into the Viewer Builder.
What you can see here in the Viewer Builder
is the standard definition screens have been loaded.
That's what the green square tells me.
The HD assets have not been loaded. That's why I got the yellow square.
So if I don't do anything about this, my iPad 3 version of the app
would use the lower res icons and splash screens.
To load the HD versions, I simply switch over to the HD assets
and then drag and drop the same set of files.
The Viewer Builder loads every file into the correct slot for me.
Everything is green, and now I can move on.
I'm building an enterprise application, so if I were to go through the navigation
and the sharing screens, I could then get to the Provisioning files area,
and this same drag and drop tip works for the distribution
and developer mobile provision files.
Simply drag and drop and they're filed in the right slot.
So if you're working with Viewer Builder a good bit,
this little trick is going to make your life a whole lot easier,
and you're going to work in Viewer Builder more efficiently.
So I hope that helps you, and I hope you enjoy it. Have fun. Ciao.
