[ADOBE TV PRESENTS] [mechanical clunking and whirring] [JASON LEVINE] [clunking and whirring continues] [KARL SOULE] [clunking and whirring continues] [SHORT AND SUITE - ON THE ROAD WITH JASON AND KARL] Thanks for tuning in to another episode of Short and Suite. Today we're going to spend a little bit of time talking about some exciting new technology from one of our sponsors, Hewlett-Packard. If you're looking for new hardware to run Production Premium, one thing to keep in mind is that it's really important to have the right configuration of hardware. Especially when you're working on a PC platform, there are so many choices out there, and we've actually spent time and we have a really strong relationship with Hewlett-Packard. Our engineers and their engineers work together to ensure a good editing experience when you're working with Hewlett-Packard workstations. Hewlett-Packard has actually got a new entry level workstation, something called the Z210. This is a very cost-effective workstation. If you're not familiar with the difference between a desktop computer and a workstation class system, typically when the word workstation is applied to these systems, it means that they're more expandable, they have more robust hardware, including memory that's error-checking. So it's important when you're doing professional level editing to have a professional level system, and that's what a workstation brings to the table. This particular system, the Z210, this is an entry level system. It's designed to be cost-effective, but at the same time it's highly expandable. This system can be configured with a video card up to the Quadro 4000 video card. So right out of the factory you can have it ready for Mercury Playback in Premiere, GPU acceleration, ready to go. It also uses the latest Intel Xeon processors, so this uses the Sandy Bridge chipset to provide exceptional performance and again, using Intel processors. We have a good relationship with Intel as well to make sure that our software is designed to work on these processors. If you're looking for a mobile solution, I've actually been sold on HP's mobile workstations for quite a while. I've brought with me--this is actually my personal battle-tested Hewlett-Packard EliteBook mobile workstation. This is the last generation model. This is the 8740. The new 8760 actually features a brand new chassis design. This actually won Best Computer at NAB this year, 2011, from Videomaker. So this particular system, again, a 10-bit DreamColor display is optional so that you can actually have 10-bit color displayed right on a laptop computer, on a mobile workstation computer. You also have multiple internal drives. This system can be configured with either two hard drives and a CD tray or if you want to forgo the CD-ROM tray and use maybe an external device for CD-ROMs, you can actually configure this system with a RAID 0 for video or even a RAID 5 if you're looking for redundancy. So really, really powerful, really nice chassis design. It's industrial strength. This actually meets military grade specifications. It's got titanium hinges on it, a really nice hard case on this, a really, really nice system. In fact, this system, because this is still so new, Adobe actually has special privileges getting its hands on one of these. It just kind of points to the fact we do have this really strong relationship with Hewlett-Packard to be able to get access to this hardware ahead of time, make sure and test with our software and double check and make sure everything is going to work the way it's designed to work. And that's one of the advantages of having a relationship with a hardware manufacturer like HP. This also includes the latest Intel processors, so you're guaranteed a really nice editing experience. I've got to say with my 8740 I've been really, really excited about working with it. It's got 16 gigs of memory on it, it's got a super fast Core i7 processor, and with the new 8760 models, again, these are going to have the latest and greatest Intel chipsets and also have NVIDIA class Quadro mobility chipsets for that full experience editing with the Mercury playback engine in GPU accelerated mode. I can't say enough about how much I'm enjoying my existing one, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one of these for real for me at some point in the future. So that's it. That's just a quick overview of some of the new technology out from Hewlett-Packard and just talking a little bit about Hewlett-Packard and Adobe working together to provide you with a strong editorial experience. Thanks again.
