Welcome everyone, I'm Renaun Erickson.
I'm with Adobe, I'm a Developer Evangelist.
I'm excited today to tell you that Adobe has announced the availability for AIR 2.7.
So, the AIR 2.7 release is for Mac, Windows, Android, BlackBerry Tablet OS and iOS.
One of the key enhancements for AIR 2.7 release is improved performance
on rendering on iOS mobile applications.
With AIR 2.7 and Adobe Creative Suite 5.5, developers can build mobile applications
that are up to four times faster on the rendering on the iOS mobile applications,
and you can take that same code base and build apps for mobile applications
for Android and BlackBerry Tablet OS.
So, let's take a look at the applications on some iPads I have.
What we have here on the left is a Flex application built with AIR 2.6,
and on the right we have the same application, but with AIR 2.7.
This is a Flex list of 100,000 complex items,
and if you look on the right, here's 2.6.
You'll see that the scrolling is not optimal,
and on the left, you'll see that the scrolling is a lot faster.
You can even flick it and go back and forth with great performance.
So, this is a good example of Flex applications running smoothly
if we're using AIR 2.7.
Another application I want to show you is an animation, a very typical application,
just a straight animation.
You might do it on Flash Pro or on the Timeline.
Again, the one on the left is AIR 2.6,
and the one on the right is AIR 2.7.
This also shows you that the AIR 2.7 performance enhancements
are very geared towards rendering on the CPU mode.
This is a prime example of a case where you can get the best performance
in your rendering CP mode applications.
So, there we showed you two great examples of AIR 2.7
performance enhancements for Flex applications
and your typical rendering heavy animations.
So, as a developer, you can start building these great applications
with Adobe Creative Suite 5.5.
You'll need to download AIR 2.7, which you can get at
get.adobe.com/air, and that's it.
Thanks for listening.
