[Digital Publishing with Colin Fleming]
Hi there. I'm Colin Fleming.
I'm Adobe's Digital Publishing Evangelist [Device Preview: Android]
and I'm going to take a quick peek at previewing on an Android tablet in the DPS workflow.
I'm working in InDesign.
I have already built both horizontal and vertical layouts
which emulate the proportions and the dimensions of my Galaxy Tab.
I've taken these 2 layouts.
I've already built a folio called Preview on Device, and I've built an article.
That article has these 2 layouts as both the landscape and portrait.
So let's go all the way back up to the top and let's take a look at previewing options.
By targeting the folio in the Folio Builder panel and clicking Preview,
I can choose to preview this on the desktop from my machine.
These 2 layouts in the article are being pushed to the Adobe Content Viewer
that's on my computer.
This is a single page publication.
If I rotate the orientation, we can see the other orientation,
and these pretty much fill my screen because they match the dimensions
and the resolution of my computer right now.
Now I want to preview this on a device,
and what I'm going to do is plug in my Android tablet to my computer.
And because my tablet is running in debug mode,
it's going to be visible in the Preview option here at the bottom of the screen.
So now not only can I preview on the device, I can preview on my Android device,
and now this piece of information is going to be passed over to the Adobe Content Viewer
on the device, and we see that it previews and now I can check out exactly what I've built
on the device, and this is going to be the best place and the best way for me to test my work.
So you can see both the vertical and the horizontal layouts.
You can also see that this appears inside of my library system.
So I come back to the library system.
We're going to see this in the library here at the top.
And if I disconnect my USB connection, it stays here.
I can still go back into it and preview it because the information is here.
And if I come all the way out and archive it, I now am deleting this piece of content
from my device.
So there you go. That's a quick look at what I can do for previewing on an Android device.
It's probably important to note that this works quite nicely on a Mac.
All I need is a cable and my Android device working in debug mode.
On the Windows platform, I need to have some drivers.

Here's a little bit of a link that will take you to information about those.
So there you go. Give it a shot.
I hope this was helpful. Thanks.
