If you've ever used the Bone Tool to chain together movie clips,
you might have noticed that it can be kind of hard to control the movement
of those various armatures.
Well, with Flash Professional CS5.5, you can now pin those armatures
down to the stage to give you better control
over the bones you want to manipulate.
I'll show you what I'm talking about.
Here I just have a simple character, and there are already some bones,
or armatures, connecting his different limbs.
So I'm going to go ahead and move these into place just by using my selection tool.
I'm going to jump in here and make sure I can move these different
parts of his arm together, because I want to connect them to the body.
I'm going to select my bone tool and, just clicking on this center point,
I can easily connect, say, for instance, his torso to his upper arm
to his lower arm, just like that.
All right. And now with my selection tool I can pull it out,
and obviously we don't like this disjointedness right here.
So what I want to do is I'm going to just move this back into place, kind of like that.
And then I can select this armature.
And I really want to lock down this armature to keep it from moving.
So if I go to the properties panel, right over here, it's just this checkbox.
It's as simple as checking on it.
You can see that this X appears, and now I can rotate that arm with much more control.
Again, I can jump in here and select that armature, select Pin
to pin down that part of the arm, and I can go through and do that
for every armature I really want to lock down, just like that.
So now, of course, each leg I can move out. Each arm I can move out just fine
to really get the positioning that I want for this character.
And I'll just switch over to this final file, because really the result
will be something more like this.
And even in this example, for instance, if I take a look at it
notice that it doesn't have any pinning on any of these joints, because you can
pin it down and then move your character to a different pose,
and basically unpin when you're done manipulating those different bones.
But, again, it's done fairly easily.
Being able to pin these armatures will give you more control over your animations
allowing you to work much more efficiently.
Thanks for watching.
