[ADOBE DREAMWEAVER CS5.5 BUILDING A PHONE/TABLET APP]
Hi, I'm Scott Fegette, senior product manager for Dreamweaver.
I wanted to talk a little bit about kicking off a new phone or tablet application
in Dreamweaver CS5.5 today.
So in order to get started quickly, we've incorporated the jQuery Mobile framework
directly within Dreamweaver CS5.5.
All you need to do to build a dedicated phone and tablet application
is just come down to File, New, choose Page from Sample, Mobile Starters,
and we're going to choose the jQuery Mobile local version,
and see we've got the mobile Web app right up here in our interface.
If you look in Design View, this doesn't necessarily look particularly indicative
of what the mobile app will look like, but this is a great way to quickly edit content across pages.
You'll notice that a jQuery Mobile app is actually a single page
with a bunch of pages within it.
There is JavaScript that is going to fire off when we actually load this in a browser
in Live View that will manage the page navigation back and forth
and do some really cool things like add theming, convert our lists into actual buttons,
and a lot of things that you've come to expect from a mobile application.
So let's just go ahead and turn on Live View.
You can see, wow, we've got an almost working mobile application right here.
Since this is all markup that you can work with just like any other markup,
it's very simple to make small changes directly either here or within Design View,
kind of edit your content and get everything working quickly.
If you want to insert any particular custom controls, form elements and such,
we've got the Insert panel over here that has all of the available jQuery Mobile widgets.
Let's come and just say, for example, "Page 2 we'll jump into the content section of it."
I'll delete that, and let's just go ahead and add a jQuery Mobile slider.
So when I save the page--just go ahead and save this as mobileapp.html,
go ahead and save it here--first Dreamweaver CS5.5 is going to copy over
all those jQuery Mobile files that we need and make sure we get all configured in our site.
And from here let's go ahead and refresh our app really quickly.
We should be able to roll in and start taking a look at the various aspects of our page again,
as well as the slider we just added a second ago.
You can see that it works just like you'd expect here in Live View.
So we think you'll see that Dreamweaver CS5.5 features
for building mobile applications are incredibly powerful
and should help seasoned pros as well as newbies alike get up and running
faster than ever before.
We hope you enjoy the new features for mobile application development
in Dreamweaver CS5.5.
By all means, check them out as well as keep posted to this Adobe TV channel
where we'll be posting more videos with deep dives
and details on all the new features available in Dreamweaver CS5.5.
I hope you enjoyed this one. I look forward to talking to you next time. Take care.
