[What is your hope for the future of creativity?]
[A Conversation with Sir Ken Robinson]
[Sir Ken Robinson, Author, Creativity Expert] Well, I believe the powers of creative intelligence
are our best hope for the future.
And it will depend, at least the future of human beings will depend,
not on our abandoning our powers of creativity
but in digging more deeply into them and making the best of them.
And that, to me, is a major challenge for education.
The other thing I'd say, though, is that we do have tools
at our disposal now which are game-changing.
But they are just tools. Even the most elaborate computers,
the best software, the most elaborate cameras,
the most elaborate tools we can conceive of, at the moment, are simply tools.
It's like seeing a room full of instruments.
They themselves don't create any music.
But musicians might, if they're properly inclined
and they have the right talents and the right mindset.
And all the wonderful tools we've created so far,
in themselves, amount to nothing without
the creative vision of the people who use them.
And I believe that that's our great challenge now,
to invest more powerfully, more deeply,
into our own powers and visions for the creative future.
