Power Point is great for cranking out those class projects,
but let's be honest;
they all start looking the same after a whil.e
I want to show you how you can really just stand out,
giving you full control by creating presentations
in InDesign CS6.
Here I am in InDesign, and I'm just gonna quickly create a new document.
Now keep in mind, this isn't for print;
this is just gonna be a presentation,
so I'm gonna turn off Facing Pages.
I'm gonna make sure the width and height is about
a 4 by 3 ratio, the size a screen,
roughly the ratio of a screen.
In this case, 12 inches by 9 inches works fine.
I don't need any margins, either.
Again, this is just for a screen, and this is what we have:
Nice and simple and clean.
Not only that, off to the side in the Pages panel
I have this Master Page,
so if I just select that,
anything I create here will be on all of my subsequent pages.
So I can create what I want in here,
or what I can do is I can go out to
my desktop and even just grab some imagery
to place in my presentation.
So dragging in 3 different items,
I can place in a background, happens to be a Photoshop file,
dropping that in like that, an Illustrator file,
and then another graphic, as well.
So I really have full control over what I add
and where I position everything, kind of like that.
In fact, you can see it over here effect that 1st page.
So even when I add another page,
it's gonna take that same layout,
so again, on to the next, looks the same.
All right, so far, so good.
Going back to my Master Page,
I can use my Type tool to set up a Content Area,
so in this text box,
I can bring in some text just like that.
Not only that; I can use
the Type tool to create a text area
and insert page numbers
just by selecting Current Page Number.
Again, that can be fully customizeable; that's great.
Moving on to my first page
for this text, I can always customize that text.
I'm just gonna hold down Command Shift
and select that text;
in fact, I can use Control Shift on a PC,
but in here, I can type in what I want.
And on that next page
know that I can customize that text, as well.
So you have full control within that framework.
I can customize each one of those screens if I want to.
In fact, you can start adding imagery.
I'm gonna open up 1 of these other products that I'm been working on
just to give you an example from page to page;
I not only have text, but I also have images.
So from there, all I need to do is export this out,
so File > Export.
I can export this out as a PDF,
saving it to my desktop,
and it's gonna give me the ability to preview it right away, as well.
Here it is,
full screen, beautiful, full control, gorgeous graphics,
text, images; that's what I want.
I want to be able to stand out.
I want my project, my presentation to be really hot,
and I think InDesign provides that,
so check it out for yourself.
