With the new timeline in Facebook,
you now have the ability to add a nice, big image
at the top of your page that known as the cover photo.
I'm gonna show you how you can make just a great image up there
that fits perfectly all using Photoshop.
So notice here I am on my Facebook page,
and this is the area I want to fill,
great opportunity just to add something really nice here.
I'm gonna add a cover
from a photo I'm going to upload,
but I need to create that first, so I'm gonna go into Photoshop now.
Here I am in Photoshop;
this is 1 of my images; I had the opportunity to
go to Africa this summer,
and this is the photo I want to use,
and what you saw a second ago was the fact that my--
basically my profile picture is kind of down by this leopard's paws,
so I need I need to move this leopard.
So in order to do that,
I'm actually select the Content-Award Move Tool;
This allows you to move content, such as this leopard,
so you have room for
my profile photo, in this case.
So selecting
the leopard just like that, then all I need to is
just move him back
to make sure I have room for my photo.
What Photoshop does is it jumps in there,
figures out everything and knows to move the items I have selected,
as well as fill in that area where this leopard was.
All right, so you can see that it's moved the leopard over; it looks great.
There might be some extra areas; that's fine.
You can always select anything in your photo,
so with Content-Aware selected,
I'm gonna hit the delete key, check this out.
I can fill it with content
around what I selected, just like that.
This could be anything--anything you want to remove,
ex-boyfriend, girlfriend, whatever the case may be,
you can remove it with that Content-Aware fill.
I think that looks pretty good.
Now I need to make it the right size, so I need to crop this down.
I'm gonna use the new Crop tool in Photoshop CS6.
Notice how I can crop it immediately if I want to,
but I need it to be the correct size and resolution,
so I'm gonna cancel out of this.
Using my Crop tool,
I can select Size & Resolution
from my Options bar at the top.
I need to make sure this is
851 by 315,
and I need to make sure the resolution is
72 DPI, since this is for the Web.
I can always adjust this how I want it to appear,
moving it up an down; maybe I'll move it up a little bit,
and now all I need to do is
go to File > Save for Web.
All right, here's my image,
looks great.
In fact, I'm just gonna save it out as a JPEG,
clicking Save, saving it to my desktop.
Now, I can jump back to my Facebook page,
select that JPEG I just created,
open that up,
and then I can save changes just like that.
So that's how you can make just a really, rich, good looking image
using Photoshop for your Facebook page,
but I encourage you to check out Photoshop.
There is such much more you can do.
I wish I had time to show you,
so you're just gonna have to check it out for yourself!
