[Female] Adobe Acrobat 9 provides many methods of gathering your files
into a PDF document.
For instance, you can combine your files into a single PDF file called a binder.
Let's go to the Combine menu and choose "Merge Files into a Single PDF."
This window may be familiar to Adobe Acrobat 8 users,
but it's now streamlined to produce PDF files even more efficiently.
Let's click on "Add Files," and in this case we'll add folders.
So, I'll click "Okay."
With all of these documents selected, I'll go ahead and adjust my file size,
and that's going to compress these documents.
The default file size is editable from Adobe Acrobat 9 preferences
and will make a nice viewable and printable PDF.
The large file size uses the high quality Adobe PDF settings
and may be a larger file.
We'll use the e-mailable size, so it'll be very small.
At this point, I could add additional files, or add them when I'm done with the PDF document.
But we'll just add one more file.
And in this case, since it's selected, I'm going to go ahead and click on "Choose Pages."
And I can preview what the pages look like, so I can decide if I want those pages,
and I can type in a range, and I'll click "Okay."
So now, let's choose our options,
and I will add accessibility and reflow, and notice it will convert
all PDF--or all files to a PDF when creating a portfolio.
If you don't understand what any of those options mean, you can click on the "Help" button,
which will bring up a browser and a help library.
Okay, so we're ready to click on "Combine Files."
And this process that it's doing now is it's taking all the non-native PDF files,
opening them up, and making PDF files of them, and then it is compressing
the PDF files to the small size.
Our SWF file, or Flash document, will allow us to adjust the advanced options,
which we can control how this video will play, controllers and view and compatibility.
We'll click "Okay."
Now we're ready to save our binder to the desktop,
and I'll go to the View menu so we can see our pages.
And we can see that all of our documents are merged into one.
Now, because we just did a combine, we have a new option,
which is to reuse files, so I'm going to add all the files back in that we just selected
and remove that first binder.
And in this case, I'm going to do PDF portfolio as my option.
It's brand-new to Acrobat 9, and it will allow us to create a branded collection of PDF files.
So, I'm going to say "Combine Files."
And again, our SWF options have to be chosen.
Okay, now we have our portfolio that we're also going to save to the desktop,
and portfolios can accommodate native files such as
Microsoft Office rich media and drawings, and you can see it's a very different view
than our merged file.
Looking back at our merged file, remember that we can combine files
into one single document using "Merge Files into a Single PDF."
Once we're there, we can control the options, such as how and which pages
will be viewed as well as the order of the pages into a single PDF document.
