The structure view for XML editing has become even friendlier and easier to use in V12.0.3 of FrameMaker. Notice that your current element will turn a dark gray in Structure View. You will also discover that you can drag a sub-element on top of a collapsed element, and that target element will auto-expand allowing you to find the correct insertion point!

You can use a keyboard shortcut to insert an element in FrameMaker XML Author (FMXA) and enter a "category" (like "list") to filter the results shown from the element catalog. This eliminates a great deal of complexity, ensures correct selection of the proper element. It also makes XML or DITA much less intimidating to new-comers!

This brief demo shows how a novice can use FrameMaker XML Author 12 (FMXA) to achieve context sensitive formatting *without* the more complex structure view. In this case, we simply display elements as tags, and visually drag and drop elements on what appears to be the page. Once again, automatic formatting is achieve as elements are promoted or demoted within nested content.
