The Victorian Virtual Learning Network: Achieving Curriculum Breadth Across Time and Space
Bendigo Senior Secondary College is a Year 11 and 12 school which is Australia's largest provider of senior school curriculum. Since 2009 the college has been developing a project to address the significant challenge of a lack of curriculum breadth for senior school students across the state. These shortages are driven in combination by teacher shortages, lack of critical student mass and tightening of educational funding. In the absence of any contemporary systemic national or state solution, the college has taken the initiative in developing a range of courses which are now being delivered to other schools free of charge through a virtual school model. This presentation focuses on the challenges associated with this work, how they are being addressed and the future of this project.
