AYVAwards_Narrative_Reading Opens New Doors
We worked with the Oaxaca International Book Fair to create this narrative video which shows the benefits of reading and literacy for young people. We created a short story showing a world where people do not read and then, after reading, showing the new, colourful and creative world which a person can inhabit if they have the joy of reading.
In this film we worked collaboratively with the Oaxaca International Book Fair to create a narrative which explains what kinds of young people read books, and why it is good to read books. We created small animations to include in our video to give it a definitive style and we hope that it will motivate people to start reading, as everyone should read books!
We are living in an era where bullying is a daily activity among troubled teenagers. Bullying can have an effect on teenagers in several ways; however the most common effects are psychological and social isolation. As a cause of the bullying many teenagers do not know how to speak up, because they fear that their situation could get worse. Most of these teenagers are portrayed as doomed and suicidal, however there is a speckle of light in every eye. There is a message behind the project’s name ‘Open Your Eyes’: by opening your eyes you will find that you are not alone, there are people out there that can help you go through your struggles. By opening your eyes you will be able to achieve the things you never thought could be achieved, for Sally defeating her bullies and finding the love of her life was her reward for speaking out. Making one small step can lead to a better and psychologically healthier life. It’ never too late to make the decision to ‘Open Your Eyes’.
